Marilyn A. Kirchner

    Marilyn A. Kirchner, 62, of Decatur, died on Monday, December 10, 2012, at her daughter’s residence.
    She was born in Decatur on August 8, 1950, to the late John and Lucille (Lengerich) Brite.
    Marilyn was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Women of St. Mary. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 1311 and Eagles Lodge. She was a nurse at Village of Heritage and Comfort Keepers.
    Among survivors are two sons, Fred (Jill) Velez of Decatur and John (Valerie) Velez of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Laurie (Steven) Smitley of Decatur; two brothers, Joseph Brite and Ed (Cathy) Brite, both of Decatur; sister, Patricia Garner of Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.     She was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin.
    Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, followed by a 7 p.m. mass of Christian burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Patrick Joseph and Deacon Jerry Kohrman. Reciting of the Holy Rosary will be at 4:15 p.m. prior to visitation.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
