March weather in Adams County was anything but normal
In like a lion, out like a lamb may only be semi-accurate for March 2014. Coming on the heels of the coldest, snowiest winter in recent memory, most area residents were looking for a big boost into spring. Mother Nature, it seems, had other plans.
According to The Western Regional Climate Center, the average high temperature in Decatur for March is 50 degrees, while the average low is 30. Things were a little different this year as the average high more closely mirrored the average low — at only 37 — and the average low hovered around 16 degrees.
We only have to look back to 2012 for the record high, 87 degrees, while 2014 tied with 1974 for a record low of 3 below zero.
