Malone fills Democrat sports post

    Dylan Malone has been named sports editor of the Decatur Daily Democrat, Publisher Ron Storey announced.
    Malone replaces Jim Hopkins, who retired after a recent heart attack. Malone has been covering South Adams football for the newspaper and was recommended by Hopkins for the post.
     A 2005 graduate of Adams Central High School, Malone is the son of Barry and Cindi Malone of rural Monroe. He is a graduate of IPFW with a bachelor's degree in communication in the media and a minor in creative writing. Recently married, Malone and his wife, Ashley, reside in Fort Wayne.
    Malone, who has two younger brothers and two younger sisters, is a volunteer for Campus Life/Youth for Christ, coaches eighth grade boys Upwards Basketball in Fort Wayne, and says he's a fan of the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs and North Carolina Tarheels.
