Main break causes street hole

     What city Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert called "a unique situation" resulted in a deep hole in a portion of a city street at the intersection of Meibers and Walnut streets last Saturday.
    A water main break occurred in that area, but because the storm sewer was in such close proximity to the main, the water from the main began running into the sewer line, causing a portion of the pavement to collapse.
    Usually, when a main breaks, the water comes to the surface, Gilbert explained. The hole, he said, was two to three feet deep and took city workers three to four hours to repair.
