Luther Eugene Patrick, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012, after a valiant fight with cancer.
Born in Social Circle, Ga., Luther was a World War II Navy veteran. He had owned Leipa Car Sales over 20 years and was a co-owner of New Dawn Real Estate Company. He attended Forest Park United Methodist Church. He ran for several political offices, was a past Wayne Township Assessor, former Justice Of The Peace, and an actor for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Leisa; sons, Danny (Lauren) Patrick of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Gregory Patrick of Fort Wayne; daughters, Anita Brown of Murphy, N.C. and Therese Joy (Norman) Burkett of Fort Wayne; grandsons, Darren Schenkel, Christopher and Timothy Patrick, and Logan Burkett; granddaughters, Dorothy Wiess, Betsy Wright, Melissa and Paige Patrick, Emily, Nora and Claire Burkett; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ron (Beverly) Patrick of Calhoun, Ga., and Kenneth Patrick of Newman, Ga.; sisters, Bernice Ott of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Connie Payne of S.C.
Luther was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Annie (Brown) Patrick; sister, Flora Brooks; brother, Cecil Patrick; infant son, Christopher David Patrick; and granddaughter, Julianna Schenkel.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, December 21, at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Fort Wayne.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, at Forest Park United Methodist Church, 2100 Kentucky Ave, with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Brenda Ginder will officiating.
Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or to the church.
