Lunch prices forced up

March 14, 2013

Lunch prices for Adams Central students will increase beginning with the 2013-14 school year in order to meet the federal standards. The AC Board of Education approved the increase Tuesday.
Cost of lunch for elementary school students will go from $1.65 to $1.75, while lunch prices for middle and high school students will go from $1.80 to $1.90.
Superintendent Mike Pettibone noted that the increase is mandatory as schools must meet federal guidelines for school lunch prices, which is approximately $2.50.
"Luckily, we can do this over a period of time," said Pettibone. "But we have to raise it at least ten cents each time."
The board approved the motion, 6-0.
