Lower speed limits likely in Homestead, on 550 N

August 8, 2013

Speed limits in the Homestead Addition and on 550 N. at the city's west edge will be reduced in the near future.
Acting on a request from Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert, city council on Tuesday adopted on two readings an ordinance lowering limits in both areas. Third and final passage is expected at the August 20 meeting.
Homestead's speed limit will go from 30 to 25 mph, and the limit on 550 N just west of 28th St. — an area where a number of new homes have been built in recent years — will be lowered from 55 to 45 mph.
