Loren U. Sprunger

    Loren U. Sprunger, 84, Berne, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at Swiss Village.
    Loren was born in Adams County on July 2, 1928, to the late Menno and Mae (Stauffer) Sprunger.
    He married Doris Dick on July 4, 1950; she preceded him in death.
    Loren was a member of the West Missionary Church. Over the years he taught Sunday School and served as superintendent. He retired from Franklin Electric after 25 years of service.
    Loren was a DNR Hunter Education Instuctor. Being a nature enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bird watching. Loren was active in the Berne Conservation Club and the St. Marys and Bluecreek Conservation Club. He enjoyed sports and rooted for the Indiana Hoosiers.
    Among survivors are two daughters, Wanda (Steven) Roush of Indianapolis and Patti (Jeff) Kiel of Raleigh, N.C.; son, Fred Sprunger of Berne; brother, Paul Sprunger of Berne; sister, Evelyn Hart of Berne; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
    Loren was preceded in death by two brothers, Weldon Sprunger and Leland Sprunger; and two sisters, Areta Bishop and Janice Hoffman.
    Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, April 27, and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Swiss Village.
    Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, also at Swiss Village, with Keith Rupp officiating.
    Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, rural Decatur.
    Preferred memorials are to Swiss Village Samaritan Fund, Family Life Care, and/or Berne Conservation Club.
