Five people in accompanying photo were involved in the latest Stockings for Soldiers project in Adams County.
Local residents bought and donated hundreds of varied items in two weeks to fill 78 large Christmas stockings that were mailed to U.S. military personnel in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.
The items included hard candy, chewing gum, playing cards, lip balm, sunscreen, shampoo, and personal care products.
From left in photo are, Bruce Reidenbach, vice-commander of American Legion Post 43 in Decatur; Jon Zwick, a partner in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home of Decatur, where photo was taken; Les Wagner, commander of Legion Post 468 at Berne; Patti Hogg of the Adams County Extension Homemakers; and Bob Hoffman, commander of Legion Post 43.
Those groups, plus local Boy Scout Troop 67, said they are strong supporters of projects to support U.S. military personnel.
