Local firm hired to design landscaping at corner lot

March 20, 2014

Decatur City Council on Tuesday evening approved the expenditure of $995 to hire MD Landscaping to design and implement improvements to a currently bleak-looking lot at the corner of Monroe and 2nd streets.
The location, at the former site of Dwayne’s Sweeper Shop, is destined to become a green space. A new brick wall has been erected as the first phase of the beautification process, but the lot itself is currently little more than a muddy piece of vacant property. Mayor John Schultz said City Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert has been working with MD Landscaping on the final design for the property.
