Playing on the phrase “It’s great in Indiana,” Superintendent of Schools Scott Litwiller reported South Adams Schools “are in a great state” during his state of the schools address Tuesday afternoon as part of the Berne Chamber of Commerce-sponsored luncheon at South Adams Middle School.
Litwiller commented, “We are pleased with our condition, but never completely satisfied.” He noted South Adams Schools are in “fantastic condition, although conditions can always get better.” He said South Adams Schools are “a vibrant, fun place to be in a school setting,” noting that from his perspective “it’s fun to see the students grow and develop and watch the staff interact with the students.”
Reflecting on the past 12 months, Litwiller said finances are solid. “Could we use more?” he asked rhetorically, and then answered his own question in the affirmative. While the general fund is “lower than in the last four or five years,” the decline can be directly connected to an overall drop in enrollment.
