A little excessive?

September 20, 2013

When is too much really too much?
That question arose at Tuesday night's city council meeting, spurred by Councilman Matt Dyer, who addressed a photo floating around the council chambers.
The photo showed an enormous pile of trash piled along the sidewalk at a home on Walnut St. for last week's heavy trash pickup.
City Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert said it cost the city $94 to get rid of the trash at the transfer station.
"It was excessive," Mayor John Schultz said. "(Piles like that) are a concern."
A few years back, the city went from four heavy trash pickups each year to two, and Dyer wanted to know if that was having a negative effect.
Gilbert said it wasn't. In fact, he said, "All in all it's getting better," meaning that as a whole, less trash is being seen than in previous years.
