Lela Isca McCollum, 101, of rural Geneva, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on Thursday, May 12, 1910, in Wells County to James and Ida Marker Pace.
Mrs. McCollum had been a longtime resident of Wabash Township. She formerly attended Apple Grove United Brethren Church in Geneva and had attended Nottingham Township School in Wells County.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, canning, flowers, gardening, and fishing.
She married James McCollum on September 17, 1932, in Fort Wayne. He passed away on June 20, 1993.
Survivors include three sons, Arthur (wife, Paula) McCollum of Keystone; Norman McCollum of Geneva; and Ronald (wife, Cindy) McCollum of Geneva; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandhild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James McCollum; her father, James Pace; her mother, Ida (Marker) Pace; three brothers, James Pace, Grove Pace, and Charles Pace; and seven sisters, Luella Pace, Bessie Teplin, Gay Harshman, Iva Burgess, Veva Albertson, Iona Sparks, and Lenora Mills.
Arrangements are being handled by Downing and Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington Street, Geneva, where family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011.
A service to celebrate her life will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011, with Pastor Tom Hartman officiating.
Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
