Leak from truck cleaned up in city

February 7, 2013

City personnel from the police department, fire department and street department were attempting this morning to negate a spill of some type of oil laid down through a wide area by an apparent leak from a truck.
The truck reportedly coming to the Bunge North America plant on Decatur's northwest side apparently was leaking the substance from a starting point in Delphos, Ohio, and through Decatur.
One observer described it as a "sticky sort of substance."
The truck apparently leaked the substance on Second St. and 13th St., and possibly other streets.
Bunge's environmentalist, Christine Thomas, was involved in the effort to locate all of the spill and clean it up. City street department crews were putting sand on the substance and had the task completed by approximately 8:15.
The spill was first discovered around 7 a.m.
No other details were available at press time.
