LaVon Naomi Grice, 90, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Ossian Health Care.
LaVon was born in on September 26, 1921, in Decatur, to the late Don and Della (Cook) DeBolt.
She lived all her life in or around Decatur; however, the past five years she has resided at Ossian Health and Rehab.
She married Frank J. Grice on June 9, 1939; he preceded her in death.
LaVon was a member of the Decatur Church of God, singing in the church choir, until moving to Ossian. She was also a member of the American Legion and helped with Meals on Wheels. She worked for Shaffer Glove Factory as a department head.
LaVon loved Decatur and was happiest being at home in her yard, tending to her flower gardens.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Bill) Roth of Pineland, Fla.; daughter-in-law Bonnie Grice,of Newburgh, Ind.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Grice; a grandson, Michael Roth; and a nephew, Ron Secaur; three brothers, Harold DeBolt, Chester (Ruth) DeBolt, and Kenneth (JoAnn) DeBolt; and three sisters, Mabel (Andy) Bailey, Cleo (Lawrence) Springer, Lucille (Kenneth) Secaur.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, with calling one hour prior to the service, with Dr. Robert Brink officiating.
Burial will take place in Decatur Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made to Decatur Church of God Family Aide Fund.
