LaVera Schroeder

    LaVera Schroeder, 86, of Decatur, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012, in Parkview Hospital, Whitley County, located in Columbia City.
    She was born in Adams County on Sunday, February 28, 1926,  to the late Martin E. and Clara (Wietfeldt) Kiefer.
    LaVera married Gerald H. Schroeder on November 18, 1945, in Zion Lutheran Church- Friedheim, in rural Decatur; he passed away on December 7, 1995.
    She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church (Suburban), on Decatur Road in Fort Wayne, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. LaVera had worked at Luginbill Wire Die in New Haven.
    Among survivors are her sons, Perry (Nancy) Schroeder of Fort Wayne; Alan (June) Schroeder of Columbia City; brother, Gilbert (Margaret) Kiefer of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one son, Jan Schroeder; four brothers, Arthur, Elmer, Erwin, and Gerhard Kiefer; and one sister, Elda Schuller.
    Visitation was held Sunday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church today.
    Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Trinity Lutheran Church (Suburban), 7819 Decatur Road, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Jerry Winegarden officiating.
    Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery (Suburban).
    Preferred memorials are to Trinity Lutheran Church (Suburban) or Donor's Choice.
