Land swap has some Geneva residents irate

    The Geneva Plan Commission met Tuesday evening to discuss a petition filed on behalf of Red Gold for an variance to the town’s zoning ordinance and approval of a development plan for a major warehouse expansion for the nation’s largest privately held tomato processing company.
    At the March meeting of Geneva’s Town Council, Council Attorney Dave Baumgartner informed the group Red Gold had purchased the 12-acre undeveloped property known as Field’s Memorial Park from the county for $49,585. The land, located directly north of the Red Gold plant and east of Williams Street in Geneva, is the only possible direction available for the company to expand is facilities.
