PONETO—Adams Central slapped out 10 hits including a home run and three doubles and stopped ACAC opponent Southern Wells by a 12-3 tally in varsity softball action Monday at the Raiders' diamond.
Adams Central never trailed in the game as Coach Cary Blake's crew erupted for six big runs in the top of the first and then added five more in the third. Southern Wells came up with a pair in the bottom of the fourth to avert a possible 10-run mercy game when Baublet doubled in both Raider runs.
Alyssa Keller continued her strong play of late for the Jets with a two-for-three plate game that included a home run. She also scored twice and had two RBIs. Madi Schwartz drove in two Jets with two hits including a double, Mary Fox doubled in two runs and Abby Busse also snagged a two-bagger for the Jets. Bess Fiechter added two singles, two runs scored, and two stolen bases and Whitney Baller also came across home plate twice in the game.
Sydnee Peterson went up against Carissa Carter of Southern Wells on the mound and threw all seven innings for the win with four strikeouts. Peterson didn't walk any batters and only one of the three SW runs was earned.
