Lady Jets get eight in 1st, top SW 11-1

May 14, 2013

Bess Fiechter

MONROE—The Lady Jets improved to 14-6 on the season with an 11-1 win over the Lady Raiders at home on Monday night in a game that lasted just five innings.
With a 10-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Jets needed just one run to end the game in a 10-run mercy rule. They would get that one run on just one swing of the bat when Bess Fiechter singled, then stole second and third before reaching home on a wild pitch for the game-ending run.
Adams Central put the law down early with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. Fiechter led off with a single, then was hit in by a one-out Madi Schwartz triple. Olivia Macklin singled in Schwartz with a single, then Kara Keller followed suit with an RBI single of her own.
