Lady Jets earn first victory, 33-27

MONROE—Adams Central doubled up Churubusco in the second half erasing a six-point halftime deficit in their first win of the season, 33-27.
The Lady Jets used a 24-12 advantage in the final two quarters to extract revenge on the Lady Eagles who knocked AC out of the sectionals last season.
With two minutes left in the second quarter, the Lady Jets faced a 15-5 deficit, the biggest of the game for either team. Up until that point, AC was shooting 1-15 from the floor and simply could not buy a basket.
A break in the defense left senior Mary Fox open at the top of the key and the jumper was pure giving AC their first field goal since Abby Busse's jumper with 3:00 to go in the first quarter. Fox would score on the Jets' next possession as well on an offensive rebound to put the Jets within six at the halftime break, 15-9.
AC coach Sam Beer and his squad did not need to panic, particularly on the defensive end.
"We didn't do anything at halftime other than to say to the girls, 'we held them to 15 points in a half.' I'll take that all year long," coach Beer noted. "We just need to shoot the basketball better."
The Jets defense combined with a patient Eagles offense and a poor shooting performance by both teams left every basket important as the Jets turned up their play in the second half.
