Kuntzman seeks post of auditor
. Wes Kuntzman has announced that he is a candidate for Adams County Auditor.
He is the second Republican auditor candidate to announce. Mary Beery earlier filed her candidacy.
Current Auditor Bill Borne cannot seek a new term due to term limits.
Kuntzman is currently executive director of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held for the past six years. Prior to becoming Chamber director he served as the coordinator of the 4Community Project, a countywide effort to increase quality of life in Adams County through educational attainment, health care, and economic development.
He has been a member of the Adams Central school board for 14 years and is in his fifth year as president of the board. Kuntzman said this experience has given him broad experience in governmental finances including budgeting and taxation.
He also leads policy review and development for the district.
Kuntzman holds a bachelor’s degree from Huntington College (now Huntington University) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana Wesleyan University. His educational background includes concentrations in accounting, management, and leadership development.
Kuntzman is a member of the Adams County Economic Development Corporation board and the Substance Abuse Awareness Council (SAAC). He is a member of the Decatur Rotary Club, the Friends of the Library, and Swiss Heritage Society.
The candidate is the Republican committeeman for the Town of Monroe (Monroe B precinct), a position he has held for 16 years.
Mayor John Schultz appointed him to serve on the committee to develop Decatur’s Comprehensive Plan. He is a past Cub Master of Cub Pack 3072, past president of the Decatur Kiwanis Club, and the Monroe Lions Club.
An ordained minister in the United Brethren in Christ Church, Kuntzman served churches in Florida and Ohio, and 16 years in Monroe. He is currently president of the United Brethren Historical Society.
Wes is married to the former Arlene Weidler. Wes and Arlene have three adult children: Bethany, Michael, and Jonathan.
