KFC employee beaten in robbery

    Decatur police are continuing their investigation into a Sunday evening assault and robbery at a local eatery.
    Chief Ken Ketzler said this morning that police were called to the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on N. 13th Street around 10:30 p.m. after a store employee was battered and tied up. Ketzler said the assailant then stole the worker's car and fled the scene.
    Ketzler said he was awaiting the report from detectives investigating the incident, noting this morning that he was not sure if a weapon was involved. Money was also stolen from the store, but Ketzler said the amount taken was not immediately known.
    Police said the store was closed at the time, but the employee was cleaning up. Police did not indicate how the attacker gained entrance to the store.
