Kent R. Freeby

    Kent R. Freeby, 55, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, following a brief battle with cancer.
    He was born in Decatur on Saturday, September 7, 1957, to the late Daniel R. Freeby, who died on December 23, 1992, and Eileen (Bieberich) Freeby, who survives.
    He married Teri A. Chin on May 25, 1985, in Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur; she survives.
    Kent was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, and was employed by National Oil and Gas in Bluffton. He was a 1975 graduate of Bellmont High School and a graduate of of IPFW.
    Among survivors are his wife of 27 years, Teri Freeby of Fort Wayne; son, Adam Freeby, at home;  son, Ryan Freeby, at home; mother, Eileen Freeby of Decatur; sister, Susan (Bruce) Bernhardt of Coatsville, Ind.; sister, Laurie (Joseph) Kunst of Willow Springs, Ill.; sister, Emily (Rick) Miller of Fort Wayne; sister, Jennifer (Mark) Bradtmueller of New Haven; his best canine companion, Cody; mother-in-law, Ann Chin of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Tami Chin of South Bend; father-in-law, Robert Christlieb of Fort Wayne; and eight nephews and nieces.
    He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charlie Chin.
    Visitation will be from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church at 7710 E. State Blvd. Fort Wayne, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 7710 East State Blvd. Ft. Wayne.
