It was the fourth win without a loss for the Squaws.
Kennedy collected a pass from Megan Schueler and slotted home the game's first goal, and that looked like it would hold up for the half, but Columbia City's Sarah Oplinger shook free and drilled in a goal from 20 yards out with 8.2 seconds left in the half to tie the score.
Bellmont retook control of the game as the second half started. Six minutes into the period, midfielder Courtney Sherer sent a cross to forward Andrea Fruchte who fired past the Columbia City keeper giving Bellmont a 2-1 lead.
One minute later, senior defender Shelby Wright put the Squaws up 3-1 with a successful penalty kick.
Columbia City rallied as Oplinger scored twice to tie the game at 3-3 with four minutes to go.
Bellmont then switched tactics and went for broke with a three-forward attack. The Squaws fired a volley of shots and Kennedy just missed winning the game when her shot skimmed past the post as regulation time expired.
Bellmont stayed with their high-octane offense as the first extra time period started. With the midfield trio of Ally Tussing, Alyssa Strickler and Kylie Beery dominating the center of the field, Bellmont launched a flurry of attacks that paid off four minutes in.
Andrea Fruchte collected a pass from midfield then sent a perfect cross to Kennedy who fired home the game winner. Bellmont defenders Wright, Mikala Quinn, Natalie McConnell and Macy Burkholder along with goalkeeper Maci Bosch combined to stifle Columbia City’s attack in the final 10 minutes and preserve the NHC victory.
