Kathleen A. “Kate” Brandyberry, 83, of Decatur, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Kate was born in Decatur on October 12, 1929, to the late Joseph and Hazel (Tumbleson) Kortenber.
On January 6, 1962, she married Klesson A. Brandyberry; he preceded her in death on February 22, 1996.
Kate was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and was an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. She worked for General Electric and Duo, Signa and Thunderbird, where she retired in 1991.
Among survivors are a son, Thomas J. (Nora) Niblick, and a daughter, Nancy A. (Mark Ranly) Niblick, both of Decatur; two sisters, Mary Kortenber of Decatur and Theresa Evans of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa S. Niblick; granddaughter, Jennifer A. Niblick; grandson, Jeremy G. Kruse; three brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, at St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Reciting of the Holy Rosary will be at 1:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 21, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic church, with calling one hour prior from noon-1 p.m. Father David Voors officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to St. Mary’s Building on our Heritage and St. Joseph School.
