AWARD TO KALVER — Decatur golfer Sue Kalver was honored with the Ethel May Sanmann Award this past weekend at the annual Ethel May Golf Tourney. The award is given out annually to a top women's golf contributor from the Decatur area. (Photo provided)

In the recent Ethel May Ladies Open Golf tourney, the Cross Creek Ladies Golf Association honored veteran Decatur Golfer Sue Kalver.
The tourney, named for Ethel May Sanmann, one of the early stalwarts for women's golf in Adams County, honors a woman golfer each year for her contribution to the sport in Decatur. The ladies association voted this year to honor Kalver.
"She has been a faithful member and participant in the Ladies Golf League and has done so much in promoting ladies golf, including holding many offices in the organization over the years," stated a spokes person for the local group.
"She always encourages young golfers to enjoy the sport while inspiring and instilling sportsmanship by her fairness and respect for those around her," continued the spokes person.
