Senior Bellmont guard Dana Kaczmarek was named to the All-NHC girls basketball squad, first team, it was announced Monday afternoon by the conference athletic directors.
Kaczmarek, who scored 11.1 points per game this season, was the only Bellmonter on the 10-memmber first team, which was dominated by Norwell and Homestead. Each had three selections among the first 10..
Bellmont senior center Madison Schultz was named to the second team. She averaged 10.8 points per game for Bellmont, plus 6.8 rebounds.
Honorable-mention honors went to junior Payton Schultz, who scored 9.7 points per game for the Squaws.
Center Jessica Rupright, forward Amanda McKee and guard Taylor Wilson of Norwell were all named to the first team. For Homestead, Emily Bley, Jena Hamrick and Carmen Lowe were given first-team honors.
Other members of the top squad are: Sierra Burlage of Columbia City, Carroll's Ciara Geiger, and DeKalb's 5'5" guard Bri Rinehart.
Rod Parker of Homestead was named Coach of the Year in the NHC.
Homestead won the NHC girls race with a perfect 7-0 record while Norwell was next at 6-1 and Carroll third at 6-2. Bellmont finished 1-6 and 9-12 overall after the loss to Norwell in the Peru Girls 3A Basketball Sectional this past Friday night.
Norwell, 20-2, will play in the 3A Peru Regional this week against 16-7 Yorktown. Defending 3A state champ Concordia, 16-7, will meet 15-6 Wawasee in the other contest.
Homestead will go against 20-4 Pendleton Heights in the Huntington North Regional. Huntington, 20-4, will meet 23-1 McCutcheon in the other contest.
