Joseph H. Morin, 83, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his residence.
He was born in Toronto, Ontario, on December 11, 1928, to the late Delphis M. and Margaret (Axson) Morin.
Joe married Marlene Laurent, of Decatur, on May 18, 1957.
He earned his bachelor's degree in music education from The University of Washington and a master's in Music Degree from Bowling Green State University.
Joe taught music and was the orchestra director at Maumee City Schools from 1959-1986. He was also a violinist with the Toledo Symphony from 1959-1998. Joe enjoyed repairing string instruments, composing music, traveling with his wife Marlene, tennis and golf.
Among survivors are his loving wife of 55 years, Marlene; children, Therese (Andrew) Franks of Midland, Texas; Andy (Kathy) Morin of Folsom, Calif.: Vince Morin of Citrus Heights, Calif.; Michelle (David) Poole of Manhattan, Mont.; and Elise (Carlos) Salazar of Ellicott City, Md.; sister, Irene Fanning of Vancouver, British Columbia; 23 grandchildren; one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his foster daughter, Shirley Robinson; and brother, Delphis "Andre" Morin.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 29, at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, also at the funeral home, at 12:30 p.m. followed by the funeral mass at 1 pm. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Maumee.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church Commitment to Community Campaign, Toledo Symphony or Odyssey Hospice.
