Joseph Francis Kohne, 73, Monroe, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 24, 1940, in Decatur, to the late William and Elizabeth (Kintz) Kohne.
Joe married Karen K. Zimmerman Feb.10, 1962; she died May 24, 2000.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864. Joe was a member of the American Legion Post 43. He was a self-employed farmer.
Joe was a 1958 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He is survived by a son, Patrick J. (Deb) Kohne of Berne; two daughters, Lisa A. (Brent) Stetler of Monroe and Lori L. Kohne of Kenia, Ark.; a brother-in-law, Jeff (Weeze) Zimmerman of Decatur; two sisters, Rosie Eller and Theresa (Melvin) McBarnes, both of Decatur; four grandchildren, Ashley (James) Scheumann; Josh Stetler; and Nick and Jon Kohne; two great-grandchildren, Jamison and Jace Scheumann.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Paul Kohne; and a sister, Betty Zent.
Prayer service will be held at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father David Voors officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will held from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 1:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church or to the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
