John E. Gribler

    John E. Gribler, 80, of Willshire, Ohio, died at 7:47 p.m. Friday in Community Health Professionals In-Patient Hospice Center at Van Wert, Ohio. He had been there for two days.
    He was born on July 22, 1930, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to Ernest E. and Hazel V. Agler Gribler.
    He married Mary Lou Gaunt on October 5, 1957; she survives.
    He was employed by Phelps Dodge Corp.'s Indiana Rod and Wire Division in Fort Wayne for more than 23 years and retired from All American Homes in Decatur after four and a half years.
    He attended Pleasant Mills Baptist Church and previously attended Willshire Church of God. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 207 in Willshire and served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict while stationed in Japan.
    Other survivors are two sons, John W. Gribler (and wife Tami) of Decatur, Illinois, and Bradley E. Gribler (and wife Tonya) of Fort Wayne; one sister, Clara Rose Stone of Jasper, Indiana; and two grandsons, Blake Gribler of Fort Wayne and Nicholas Gribler (and wife Molly) of Decatur, Illinois.
    Deceased are one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Gribler; two brothers, Karl and Raymond Gribler; and three sisters, Edith Roehm, Opal May, and Norma Price.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Pastor Richard Sprunger officiating.
    Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Ohio City, Ohio, with military graveside honors by American Legion Post 207 in Willshire.
    Visiting hours are 3-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
    Preferred memorials are to Pleasant Mills Baptist Church or to the American Heart Association.
