Johanna Strahammer, 89, of Bluffton, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
She was born on October 17, 1923, in Furth im Wald, Germany, to John and Matilda Wurz.
On May 3, 1948, in Chicago, she married Josef V. Strahammer. They shared 54 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in June of 2002.
Johanna was a homemaker and lived in Chicago and Bluffton for most of her life. Recently, she lived at the River Terrace Estates and enjoyed her friends and being part of the Red Hatters.
She is survived by her children, John (Ella Bernhardt) Strahammer of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Josef A. (Cynthia Rich) Strahammer of Monroe; five grandchildren, Scott Strahammer, Christopher (Carolyn) Strahammer, Sarah Autumn (Thomas) Calahan, Caroline Ann (Rick) Aschliman, all of Monroe, and Elizabeth Ameka (Fiancé Lane) Strahammer of Bristol, Ind.; and four great-grandchildren.
A private family services will take place at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.
Preferred memorials may be made in Johanna’s memory to the Wells County Public Library.
