August 20, 2013

The monthly jobless report issued Monday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development showed unemployment in Adams County declined by .2 percent during July from the previous month.
After registering unemployment rates of 6.8 percent in both April and May of this year, June's report listed unemployment in Adams County at 7.6 percent. The latest state figures set the local jobless figure at 7.4 percent. That figure was the 25th lowest in the state and the third lowest among all counties in northeast Indiana, trailing only Hamilton's 5.9 and LaGrange's 7.2 percent readings.
Monday's report showed 1,088 members of Adams County's total workforce of 14,650 remained without work during July.
