Joan L. Conn

    Joan L. Conn, 84, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at her home in Fort Wayne.
    Born in Adams County, Joan worked at Parkview Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. She was a skilled seamstress, loved to read, knit, crochet and make afghans; which were donated to the church, to the homeless and to shelters.    
    Among survivors are her husband, Ray; son Matthew (Tamatha) Conn of Fort Wayne; daughters Tamara (Steven) Frey of Hudson, Ind., and Merrilee (Ken) Kapsi of Kennewick, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Elease Striker; brother Richard Strike and sister Harriett Striker.
    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Rd.
    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 12,  at Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Rd, with calling one hour prior. Rev. Jan Funk will be officiating.
    Entombment will be in St. Paul Mausoleum at Covington Memorial Gardens.
    Preferred memorials are to Covenant United Methodist Church or CASANA (Childhood Apraxia of Speech Assoc. of North America).
