Jets win AC Invitational
MONROE— The Adams Central boys track squad won a decisive victory in their own AC Invitational over the weekend with a 131-point showing against the six-team field at the Hangar.
The Jets were first place over Bluffton (118) who took second followed by Northfield in third (67), Fremont in fourth (47), Southern Wells in fifth (43) and Canterbury with 19 points.
Central's Lady Jets team finished fourth with 71 points behind Fremont in third with 80, Northfield in second with 100 points and invite champion Southern Wells with 106 points. Bluffton (58) was behind AC and Canterbury finished sixth with 47 points.
Out of 14 events, AC managed to win only the three team relays but those events mustered them a total of 30 points towards their score. Juwan Peralez, Calvin Isch, Ben Lehman, and Gavin Kaehr won gold in the 3200 Relay finishing with a gold time of 8:40.26, while Bailey Hurst, Lane Harrison, Mason Call, and Stephen Eicher finished with a time of 45.2 in the 400 Relay. In the 1600 Relay, the Jets scored another gold at 3:39.2.
The Jets also earned 14 points in the Shot Put thanks to the 2-3 finish of Evan Harvey (120'9") and Tanner Engle (119'4"). In the Long Jump, Hurst was third place with a leap of 18'9", while Dustie Crook was fourth in the High Jump at 5'2".
In other events, Isch finished second place in the 3200 Run at 10:35.1, just two seconds behind Bluffton's Mosser. In the 100 Dash, Kaehr was third and Hurst fourth for AC with times of 11.7 and 12.1 respectively. In the 200, Hurst managed a fourth place finish at 24.26.
In Hurdles, Tyler Tonner was third in the 110 at 17.9 and second in the 300 at 42.81, while in the 400, Call was second at 53.51 with Peralez just behind at 54.30. Kaehr finished third in the 1600 at 4:55.4.
