MONROE — Adams Central won 10 of 14 matches, drubbing Heritage 54-19 Thursday, earning at least a share of the ACAC dual meet wrestling title with it's sixth loop win in as many meets.
The Jets, 20-2 overall, are heavily favored to wrap up the crown Saturday in they face Bluffton in the first round of the Adams Central Superdaul. That match will begin at 9 a.m.
"We won 10 matches and some of our guys wrestled pretty well. We looked stronger and more confident at some spots than we did last night," said AC coach Doug Schultz. The Jets thumped Leo on Wednesday 56-21.
"We're getting there. We'e not quite there yet, but we're getting there," added Schultz.
The Jets scored falls at 120 with senior Cody Walburn, at 132 with Derek Roe, 138 with Luke Liter and at 182 with Ben Fister. Chantz Luginbill had a 17-2 tech fall over Josh Chowning at 160. Andy Oliver at 106, Adam Cook at 113 and Derek Ellinger at 126 all accepted forfeits.
The Jets will see come strong opposition Saturday. Schultz expects that the Jets will see newcomer Brownsburg, a 5A (in football) school, in the cross pool competition. "They'll bring a solid team. They're in that same conference with Fishers and Noblesville, and they've been winning and finishing high in their tournaments," stated Schultz.
