MONROE — With both teams coming off of two-game losing streaks in ACAC play last week, it was the Adams Central defense that closed the door on South Adams Friday night late at the Hangar as the Jets came away with a 32-22 win coming from behind after a halftime deficit.

"It fell upon their shoulders," explained AC coach Michael Mosser. "That offense that they (South Adams) run is a methodical offense and if you can't be disciplined then they will take advantage of you which is what they did in the fourth quarter tonight."
The Jets were nursing a 25-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter and at the seven minute mark, Skylar Schoch capped off an important drive for the Stars running 14 yards to the left and scoring the touchdown. SA quarterback Derek Wanner scored the two-point conversion to make it 25-22.
During the drive, Anthony Spangler and Tanner Butler each came away with a sack on Wanner forcing a third and 12 on the Starfire 44-yard line. Wanner would take advantage of some confusion from the Jets' defense and completed a 17-yard pass to Peter Amstutz running across the middle for the first down. Still in disarray, Wanner pushed the ball without a huddle and passed to Drew LeFever for 25 yards setting up Schoch's TD run on the next play.
On the Jets' possession after, the Stars buckled down and forced a three-and-out punt with 4:33 still left in the game.
"I was disappointed when we had the two score lead and did not come away with the big first downs we needed to put the game out of reach but we made the important stops late when we had to so I have to give our guys credit," analyzed Mosser.
Wanner was sacked twice by Kyle Baker on the Starfires next drive, the second coming on a fourth and 12 giving the ball back to the Jets with 2:36 left.
