Jets and Stars sit atop first wrestling polls

    Adams County rivals Adams Central and South Adams lead the way among small schools in the wrestling season’s first statewide poll by classes.
     The Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association (IHSWCA) released its first classed rankings Wednesday. The poll is important as teams prepare for the IHSWCA Team State Dual Meet tournament at Westfield on January 4, 2014.
     Central garnered three first place votes in the Class A (small school) poll, while the Stars had one. Third-place Fremont also had one.
     Yorktown was a unanimous No. 1 pick in the Class AA rankings for medium-size schools netting a total of 48 points on votes, while Bellmont was a recipient of 15 votes coming in at 12th place among the middle class.
    In Class AAA (large schools), defending state champion Perry Meridian received eight first-place votes and holds down the top spot. Penn, ranked No. 2, received two.
