Jerilyn Sheets

    Jerilyn “Jeri” (Deming) Sheets, 70, went to be with the Lord at 4:06 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, at her residence.
    She was born Sept. 6, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minn., to the late Gerald and Iva Hanson Deming. She married her best friend, Larry Sheets, March 7, 1964; he survives in Lima, Ohio.
    Jeri retired in June after 33 years of teaching in the Elida School System. She was an active member at Shawnee Alliance Church and taught the junior high Sunday school class.
    She is survived by a son, Richard (Beth) Sheets of Buffalo, N.Y.; two daughters, Laura Daley, of Austin, Texas and Lisa (Dennis) Meiners of Centerville, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Allison Sheets, Jonathan Sheets, Evan Spyker, Rachel Meiners, Katherine Sheets, David Sheets, Kevin Meiners, Erik Meiners, Ryan Spyker and Kayla Daley; two sisters, Judy (Don) Higgins of Fort Wayne and Joye (Bill) Gardenour of Bluffton; a brother, John (Linda) Deming of Fort Wayne; and a sister-in-law, Betty Deming of Titusville, Fla.
    She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Deming of Titusville.
    Calling is from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Creamtion Services, Shawnee Chapel.
    Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawnee Alliance Church, with Rev. Richard Sheets and Dr. Daniel Messner officiating.
    Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or Gideons International.
