Jean C. Spade

    Jean C. Spade, 72, Berne, passed away August 8, 2013, at the Bluffton Regional Hospital.
    Jean was born to the late Robert and Priscilla (Lehman) Gerber on March 17, 1941.
    She married Donald W. Spade on September 2, 1960.
    She was a member of West Missionary Church. Jean worked for Dunbar Furniture, CTS Corp and retired from Berne Hi-Way Hatchery in 2005. Her special interests included crafts, such as making butterflies out of plastic bottles, cooking, sewing; and collecting dolls.
    Among survivors are her husband, Don; son, Tim (Laura) Spade of Decatur; two daughters, Karla (Bill) Gilson of Berne and Lori (Mike)Dike of Terre Haute; two brothers, Joe Gerber of San Diego, Calif. and Dan Gerber of Fort Wayne; sister, Annette Koons of Linn Grove; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
    Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly R. Spade.
    Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, August 11, at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, August 12, at West Missionary Church.
    Funeral services will bet at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with Pastor Keith Rupp officiating.
    Burial will in MRE Cemetery, Berne.
    Preferred memorials are to West Missionary Church Building Fund.
