Jasper firm chosen to do reassessment
The Adams County Commissioners on Monday chose Tyler Technologies of Jasper, Indiana, to perform the county's reassessment this year.
Assessor Don Kuhn told the commissioners he received the following bids: PSC Associates, $41,082.40; Appraisal Research, $34,875; Nexus Group Property Tax Consultants, $43,775; Indiana Assessment Services, $37,320; and Tyler Technologies, $25,800.
At the recommendation of both Kuhn and County Attorney Mark Burry, the commissioners approved the Tyler firm to do the work.
Meanwhile, Adams County Engineer Tim Barkey reported that he had received bids to replace a small structure on 100 N, just west of 400 W. He recommended awarding the bid to Fleming Excavating of Decatur, who had submitted a bid of $54,072. The commissioners approved.
Maintenance Head Dave Meyer reported that damage done to the courthouse heat pump when lightning struck it was so severe that the entire pump will have to be replaced.
As Charlie Tooley resigned his position on the health board to take over the Food Inspector position, the commissioners approved Bob Rhoades to fill the position.
On another matter, Gene Bienz expressed concern regarding the wind ordinance. The commissioners informed him that they would address concerns after receiving a recommendation from the plan commission, which is scheduled to make a decision on the ordinance on February 25.
