March 18, 2014

Unemployment in Adams County inched up slightly during January from the previous month, but still remained at levels not seen for nearly six years as 2014 got under way.
According to figures released Monday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the jobless rate for Adams County last month stood at 5.8 percent, up from 5.4 percent in December of 2013. The last time Adams County experienced a jobless lower than December’s reading came in May of 2008, when unemployment locally was 5.1 percent, according to Joe Frank, communications director for the state workforce agency.
