James Singleton, 71, of Decatur, passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Van Wert Community Health Professionals Hospice.
James married Oleta Garrett in Texas on November 17, 1960; she passed away on February 15, 2005.
He was a member of the Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church and retired from Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne after 41 years of service.
Among survivors are his daughter, Camilla (Kenneth) Brummette of Ohio City; sons, James Singleton Jr. of Decatur; Christopher Singleton of Decatur; James Wayne Garrett of Rush Springs, Oklahoma; Joseph Clay Garrett of Poulsbo, Wash.; brother, Dean (Tammy) Singleton of Decatur; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dave Singleton.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. on Friday, August 17, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Michelle Isch officiating.
Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
Preferred memorials are to Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church.
