James S. Hook

    Rev. James S. Hook, 82, formerly of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011, in Indianapolis.
    Rev. Hook was born on December 18, 1929, in Wells County to the late Ralph and Caroll (Schlagenhauf) Hook.
    He served the Indiana United Methodist North Conference for 39 years before retiring from St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Decatur.
    Rev. Hook was a graduate of Bluffton High School, North Central College, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and DePaul University.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Hook, whom he married on August 23, 1952.
    Other survivors include two sons, James (Pattie) and John (Nancy) Hook, both of Indianapolis; one daughter, Mary Dickerson (Duboris), also of Indianapolis; three sisters, Anna Lee Ault, Claudine Powell, and Armatha Green; one brother, Jack Hook, and 11 grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Hook; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann; and TWO grandchildren.
    A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be sent to Heartland Hospice, United Methodist Committee on Relief, The Reuben P. Job Endowed Chair in Spiritual Formation, or the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
