James M. Everett

    James M. Everett, 65, of Decatur, died on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    James was born in Decatur on November 22, 1947, to Clyde and Treva (Biberstine) Everett.
    On July 14, 2008, he married Rebecca L. Hurst.
    James was a 1966 graduate of Adams Central. He retired in 2009 from Ruan Trucking after 15 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43, the V.F.W. and the local Teamsters Union. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967-1969.
    Among survivors are his mother, Treva Everett of Decatur; wife, Rebecca L. Everett of Decatur; son, James M. (J.J.) Everett Jr. of Decatur; two daughters, Erica A. Everett of Fort Wayne and Meri L. Everett of Cincinnati, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Christa (Paul) Watson; four grandchildren, Taylor Bird, Sidney Watson, Zoe Everett and Rashon Johnson; a brother, Clyde Everett Jr. of Rockford, Ohio; and two sisters, Susie Burger and Theresa Everett, both of Decatur.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Everett, and a brother, Gene Everett.
    Calling will be from 1-6 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, followed by a 6 p.m. funeral service. Rev. Dan York will be officiating. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
    Preferred memorials are to the grandchildren’s Education Fund.
