James E. Bowyer, 76, Fort Wayne, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly after a brief battle with cancer on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
He served his country in the United States Army.
James married Arlene P. Nicklow on Oct. 12, 1960, in Republic, Pennsylvania. They celebrated 52 years of marriage this past October.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne and was a 1954 graduate of Monroeville High School. He retired in 1996 with 44 years of service from Norfolk & Southern Railroad as a Rate Clerk.
"He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa to all, who was blessed with many friends and a joyful life. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, gardening, watching the Cleveland Indians, and enjoying life."
Among survivors are his wife, Arlene P. Bowyer of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kristalle P. (Daniel) Dellinger (Wadsworth) of Fort Wayne; beloved grandson, James F. Wadsworth of Fort Wayne; two granddaughters, Katelynn and Brionna Dellinger.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brent J. Bowyer in 200, and his sister, Julie Ann McDougal.
Visitation will be from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. today at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating.
Burial at Memorial Cemetery with full military graveside services.
Preferred memorials are to the V.A. Hospital in Fort Wayne.
