Jail cleanup, work release, and CC hailed
In his State of the Judiciary address on Monday, Circuit Court Judge Chad Kukelhan reported that there are 17 full-time officers working for the Decatur Police Department.
He commended Kriss Affolder for his work as the security officer for North Adams Schools. Kukelhan also noted that there is a new dog in the department, named Vary, who is used for drug detection.
According to the judge, Sheriff Rekeweg has really cleaned up the jail inside and out, including adding a second video conferencing room. This lowers the number of transports from the jail to the court and back, saving time and money, and providing a safer system.
