Jacqueline D. Mere

    Jacqueline D. Mere, 92, of Geneva, passed away at 1 a.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Swiss Village.
    She was born in Adams County on Saturday, November 20, 1920.
    Jacqueline graduated from Geneva High School in the class of 1938.
    She married Hugh P. Mere on August 17, 1945, at Robins Field, Ga.; he preceded her in death on September 22, 1990.
    Jacqueline had worked as Manager of P.X. in U.S. Army Air Corps in Robins Field. She had also worked at Jay Garment in Portland. She then worked as bookkeeper for the Adams County Highway Department, and then at CTS in Berne, from 1963-1981. She had served as a clerk for the election board and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and needle point.
    Among survivors are her sons, John P. (Teresa) Mere of Decatur, Michael P. (Carol) Mere of Marion, and James H. (Nellie) Mere, Geneva; sister, Tabitha Cline of Bryant; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her, father, John E. Teeter; mother, Lucy (Decker) Teeter; and sister, Violet Timmons.
    Family and friends may gather to share and remember her at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N Washington Street, Geneva, on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 4-8 p.m.
    A service to celebrate Jacqueline's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, also at the funeral home.
    Burial will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
    Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association.
