Jack Edson Reiff

    Jack Edson Reiff, 89, of Decatur, passed away at 6:05 a.m. on December 14, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    He had been a resident the past two years at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Jack was born in Bluffton on April 12, 1923, to the late Johnnie and Gladys (Quick) Reiff.
    He married Doreen Ruth Luestner on May 20, 1944, in Townsville, Queensland, Australia; she passed away on June 6, 1964. He then married Earlene A. “Scottie” Cummings on March 5, 1965, in Bluffton; she passed away on January 25, 2003.
    Jack was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Freidheim. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1311 in Decatur, the American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton, and the V.F.W. 6236 in Decatur, where he was a past commander. He was also Senior Council President at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Jack served in the United States Army during World War II in Papua, New Guinea.
    He was a 1941 graduate of Bluffton High School and retired in 1985 as a line supervisor for American Electric Power (Indiana Michigan Power).
    Among survivors are his son, Anthony F. “Tony” (Linda) Reiff of Bluffton; daughter, Angela T. (Steve) Yarrington of Decatur; grandson, Benjamin John (Kelly) Reiff of Indianapolis; grandson, Christopher Lucas Reiff of Stockton, Calif.; sister, Joyce (Ellis Jr.) Braner of Bluffton; and sister, Joan (Eugene) Mendenhall of Bluffton.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Verdane and Robert Reiff.
    Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the Church.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim, with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating.
    Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim; or Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton.
    Military Graveside Services will be conducted by  American Legion Post 43 Decatur.
