The icy remains of water from a ruptured fire sprinkler pipe inside the former Gerber's supermarket in Decatur Plaza shopping center on the north side of the city is seen Tuesday, Jan. 25. The pipe apparently broke early that morning and city water department workers were called at 3:45 a.m. to cut off the water flow to the building. That work was done outside and took about two hours because the men had to locate valves at ground level amid piles of snow and ice, according to Decatur Water Superintendent Jim Inskeep.
