Hospital ends 2013 on positive financial note

January 22, 2014

At the initial meeting of the new year for the Adams Health Network Board of Trustees, members learned a significant financial turnaround occurred in 2013 with a year ending positive balance of $573,234 — compared to a $1,922,567 deficit in 2012.
Chief Financial Officer Dane Wheeler reported some of the 2012 deficit was simply a “paper number” as numerous old accounts the hospital had no chance of collecting were written off. The hospital was socked with a substantial “hospital tax,” courtesy of the state legislature.
